Compris 2024: Where we’ve been and where we are going.

Hi Everyone,

Well, this year flew by for us at Compris! We’re proud of our accomplishments and how we’ve been able to refine and iterate Compris to reach more people and populations. In addition to assessing substance misuse, Compris has expanded to other behavioral health concerns, including loneliness, habits, feelings, motivation, resilience, and readiness for wellness. It’s still quick, comprehensive, and offers actionable guidance to clients and providers.

We’re excited that we now have many different groups using Compris, including:

  • Behavioral Health and Recovery

  • Veterans

  • Seniors

  • Drug Courts and Reentry

  • Homeless

Early indicators of our pilot with seniors have exceeded our expectations. We can‘t wait to share more with you, but here’s a teaser. So far, we are seeing 2-3 times greater motivation and readiness for wellness post-Compris.

What else are people telling us about how Compris has helped them?

  • More comfortable sharing with their peers

  • Feelings of belonging to their community and less alone

  • Better understanding of their needs and best ways forward

  • More aware of how their life stress and trauma have contributed to their current difficulties

  • Surprise and pleasure that they have more resilience than they thought

Here’s how Compris is being used in drug courts and reentry:

  • Assessing potential for probation adherence by tracking sobriety over an extended period

  • Identifying readiness and eligibility to reinstate lost privileges, such as a revoked driver’s license

  • Providing details routinely requested in SOAR applications for social security benefits

We recently attended the 55th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance Dinner sponsored by the Illinois Commission on Diversity & Human relations (ICDHR). The evening’s theme was Communities Coming Together. The takeaway was clear. Despite daily challenges we face, we continue working toward Dr. King’s vision of “the beloved community”. Rev. Clyde Brooks, ICDHR Chairman, who worked with Dr. King, said it best.  “As we look at communities coming together, it begins with each one of us caring for each other, beyond the relative or person next door to you.”

Compris is dedicated to reaching more communities to help identify and manage population health prevention and treatment needs, such as perinatal care, survivors of violence, and primary care among those rural and underserved. Learn more.

As we approach 2025, we at Compris wish you a healthy and safe holiday season, filled with family, friends and love.

Be sure to come find us next year.

Best,

Joyce and Calvin
